Van den Durpel
Graduated as Social Pedagogue, I started my career as Streetcorner Worker with male prostitutes. At the same time, I was lecturing Didactics and Group Management, and became the Programme Coordinator of the Teachers Training Academy. In 2007, I was appointed as Director of the Migrant Integration Service of the City of Ghent. I further specialised in Diversity Management (Post graduate) and European Studies (Master). Since 2016 I am responsible for European Policies on Social Inclusion, Immigration and Welfare within the city. I completed my PhD on irregular migrants’ access to housing in European cities in 2022. Other researches and projects I’m involved in concern, amongst others, VISA RoC (2022-2023), COSY (2026-2027), Safe Reporting (2018-2019). In combination with my job in the International Networks and Funding Office in Ghent, I am pursuing a Master's degree in Law.
