I am a visiting professor of social research and public policy at New York University Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. I am an international migration scholar with a research focus on emergent migration patterns to, from, and within Asia. My early work was focused on low-wage labor migrations, specifically the stepwise international labour migrations of Filipino and Indonesian domestic workers. Related to domestic work, I am working on a project to develop a Global Care Policy Index to quantitatively rate and rank countries on the degree of social policy protections and support they provide unpaid family caregivers and paid domestic workers in the household sphere. A third area of research looks at new brain circulations of Asian bioscientists in the rapidly evolving global scientific field.
