As a political scientist, Fanny holds a 5-year Political Science Diploma (Sciences Po Toulouse, France). During the last year of her Political Science degree, she also got a Master degree in Political Science with a major in Geopolitics and International Relations, from the University of Toulouse and Sciences Po Toulouse, in partnership with Stanford University. After this, she obtained an additional Master degree in European and International Studies with a specialisation in International Cultural Strategies, (University of Albi, 2013-2014). Her academic background is combined with previous professional experiences at the French Ombudsman (Paris) and the International Organisation of Migration (Geneva). She completed her PhD in Human Geography in December 2017, dealing with the Political mobilisation of the Palestinian diaspora in Sweden, a research endeavour jointly conducted at the University of Poitiers, the American University of Beirut and Sciences Po Paris. During her doctoral studies, she was honoured with various prestigious grants (Institute of Advanced Studies in National Defence IHEDN Paris, Foundation Poitiers University) and a fellowship awarded from the Centre for Advanced Middle Eastern Studies, Lund University. Following her doctoral studies, Fanny secured a research grant from the French Red Cross Foundation (2018-2019), enabling her to delve into research on the Palestinian diaspora in Germany. In parallel, she was involved in research projects at Lund University, through The Middle East in the Contemporary World MECW programme. Fanny then conducted her international post-doc at Lund University and Malmö University (2019-2022), based on a research grant awarded by the Swedish Research Council regarding the Resilience in Urban Sudan project. With the desire to strengthen research in global environmental politics through migration studies, this project allowed her to expand her area of expertise by investigating migrants’ strategies to tackle climate change in Khartoum, Sudan. Additionally, she is deeply committed to her role in teaching Middle East and North Africa-related subjects at the Southern Denmark University and she is an associate researcher at the University of Poitiers Migrinter (France) and the Arab Center for Research and Political Studies in Paris (France) while being a fellow at the Institut Convergences Migrations (France). These endeavours have prompted her engagement with numerous fields of study, such as the geopolitics of the Middle East, conflict-generated diasporas, migration policies in Scandinavia. Fanny’s current research project at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs, MENA Programme focuses on the Palestinian and Kurdish diasporas in Sweden.
