Prof. in Political Science, specialised in migration studies, head of the Political Science Department at New Bulgarian University. Otova also serves as the European academic coordinator for the European Joint MA in Forced Migration, European Reform University Alliance. She is also a research fellow and visiting scholar at Brandeis University, USA. Her primary focus is on political narratives surrounding migration and their impact on migration policies. Otova has published numerous articles, including the book "Migration and Populism in Bulgaria" (Routledge). She actively engages in national and European research projects and has extensive experience in the non-governmental sector, having managed and coordinated projects for organisations such as IRC, UNHCR, and other leading humanitarian groups as a communications and advocacy specialist.
