Dr. Benson's background resettlement and case management informs her research on forced displacement, humanitarian aid, and global comparative refugee policies. Dr. Benson holds a PhD and MPhil in International Relations from the School of International Service at American University, and a BA with honors in Public Policy and Ethics from Duke University. Her doctoral research was awarded the Cosmos Scholars Prize and offers a new global dataset and typology of resettlement services across 26 countries, with implications for international collaboration and policy improvement. Dr. Benson is currently a visiting scholar at the Research on International Policy and Implementation Lab (RIPIL) at American University and a consulting researcher at the Division of International Protection and Solutions at UNHCR, where she is researching resettlement services and integration outcomes data across 34 countries.
