Laura Holderied is a postdoctoral researcher in the research group “Human Rights Discourse in Migration Society” (MeDiMi) at the University of Giessen. Her research interests lie at the intersection of critical migration and border studies, critical security studies, and visual global politics. She is particularly interested in social and political conflicts over mobility, rights, and inclusion/exclusion in migration societies and the role of images/visuality in this. Her research has appeared in International Political Sociology, Cooperation and Conflict, Journal of Human Rights Practice, and Leviathan, among others. Her book “Visual Border Politics. Images and Migration Governance in Europe” has recently been published with Routledge.
