Amanda
Klekowski von Koppenfels

My research has focused on US citizens as migrants for some time now. I focus both on the American case (US citizens/ Americans as emigrants) as well as drawing on the American / US case to learn more about topics such as political engagement in one's home country/ political transnationalism, migration aspirations and more. My current research is around the increase in emigration from the United States, looking at those who are feeling compelled to leave (whether because of high health care costs, cost of living and quality of life, racism, homophobia or fear of gun violence) and those seeking opportunity.
