Hidayet Siddikoglu is the co-founder of the Bilim Organization for Research and Social Studies and the principal researcher for the Horizon Europe Project “GAPs,” leading the study on Post-Return Practices and Experiences of Returnees in Afghanistan. He also serves as an adjunct faculty member at the American University of Afghanistan in Doha, Qatar, and has recently taken on the role of Co-Chair (Global South) of the IMISCOE Standing Committee. His research focuses on conflict, peace, and migration studies, with a particular emphasis on migration governance and management. Dr. Siddikoglu completed his PhD at Hiroshima University and holds two master’s degrees: one in Development Science from Hiroshima University and another in International Security from the University of Leicester, United Kingdom. He has worked as a local coordinator at UNITAR-Türkiye and senior researcher on various development and humanitarian projects funded by UN agencies including UNICEF, WFP, and the World Bank in Afghanistan and Türkiye.
