Víctor Manuel García Guerrero is a full-time professor and researcher at the Center for Demographic, Urban, and Environmental Studies at El Colegio de México (CEDUA-Colmex). He is a Level III National Researcher under the National System of Researchers of the Ministry of Science, Humanities, Technology, and Innovation (Secihti). He is the founder and coordinator of the Permanent Seminar on Demographic Dynamics. He is the editor-in-chief of the journal *Estudios Demográficos y Urbanos* and publications coordinator at CEDUA-Colmex. He is also Associate Editor of the journal Demographic Research and Guest Editor for the Formal Relationships section of the same publication. He holds a degree in Actuarial Science from the Faculty of Sciences at UNAM and a Ph.D. in Population Studies from CEDUA-Colmex. He conducted part of his doctoral studies at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis in Austria and at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research in Germany. He has served as a consultant on demographic methods for the United Nations Population Fund, the National Population Council (where he has participated in the last four rounds of official population projections), the Ministry of Social Development, the Inter-American Development Bank, the National Electoral Institute, and various consulting firms, banks, and insurance companies. His research interests include population estimates and projections and their use in public policy and decision-making, demographic analysis, applied demography, and formal demography.
He is the author of the book “Population Projections and Policies in Mexico,” published by the Center for Demographic, Urban, and Environmental Studies at El Colegio de México, A.C.
He is the author of Mexico’s most recent official population projections, prepared for the National Population Council.
