I am a doctoral researcher at the Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences (BIGSSS) at the University of Bremen. My research focuses on identity and identification among Syrians in Germany and Turkey, with particular attention to home- and host-country identification. I examine how experiences in the host society, such as perceived discrimination, tolerance, cultural distance, social relations, perceived integration policies, and social media use, are related to Syrians’ sense of belonging to both their culture of origin and the societies in which they live. I hold a master’s degree in Digital Media and Society from the University of Bremen and have previously worked as a student assistant at ZeMKI and the Hans-Bredow-Leibniz Institute. I have presented my work at international academic events, including the IACCP Congress, and received the Best Presentation Prize in the Humanities and Social Sciences section at the First Arab Science Symposium in Germany. My broader academic interests include migration, acculturation, social cohesion, digital media, and intercultural relations.
