Angela Bauer is a political scientist, sociologist (M.A. University of Erlangen-Nürnberg & University of Costa Rica), and mediator whose research is situated at the intersection of migration, social inequality, and questions of participation and belonging. She studies how migration governance in the fields of education and work shapes opportunities, rights, and experiences of migrantized persons in Germany — and how processes of inclusion and exclusion are produced within institutions and society. Her empirical work is based on qualitative and participatory approaches.
She is interested in how legal statuses, institutional practices, and social structures shape unequal conditions of belonging and participation, while also examining the agency of migrantized people in navigating and challenging these conditions.
