Pınar Dilan Sönmez Gioftsios is a political scientist, specialized on critical citizenship studies, highly skilled migration, and transnationalism. Her main research interest deals with the lived citizenship experiences of highly skilled migrants, with a special focus on the experiences of belonging and political participation. She published on lived citizenship experiences and patriotic cosmopolitan belonging among highly skilled migrants. Pınar holds a PhD in Political Science in November 2024 from Bilkent University, Türkiye. She is a former research fellow in the University of Vienna and a participant of the InQuire Migration Research Laboratory Program in the Centre for Development Evaluation and Social Science Research. Pınar holds two Master's degrees in Political Science and History in 2014 from Panteion University and in Nationalism Studies in 2018 from Central European University. She currently explores the political participation practices of migrants from countries undergoing autocratization.
