Amanda Bisong works on migration and mobility, regional economic integration, trade, and African Union-European Union relations. She has a background in Law, with a PhD (Cum Laude) from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and master’s degrees in International Law and Economics (World Trade Institute University of Bern, Switzerland) and International Trade Policy and Trade Law (Lund University, Sweden). She has over 14 years of policy implementation and research experience in international law, development, migration, and trade. She has worked with African political representatives at the national, regional, and continental levels. She has also liaised with the European Union Commission and partners and engaged in policy discussions in Brussels. Her research areas include public law, political economy, and migration. Her research focus lies on migration governance and the interplay between regional and national commitments, as well as on the role of external stakeholders on influencing migration policies in West African States. She has written several academic articles and op-eds on free movement policies in Africa, linking the African Continental Free Trade Agreement and labour mobility with the AU free movement protocol.
