Maritza Choisser holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management, and a Master of Public Administration from the University of North Florida. She also earned a Juris Doctor and a graduate certificate in criminal law from another Florida institution. Her professional work focuses on federal immigration law and Florida criminal law, while her academic interests center on comparative constitutional law and the rights of migrant children and survivors of domestic violence. She is currently conducting independent research in preparation for doctoral study at the Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA). Alongside her legal practice and research, she serves as an undergraduate adjunct instructor at the University of North Florida, where she teaches U.S. immigration law in the summer. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and serves on the Law Student Purpose Subcommittee of its Central Florida Chapter. She is also a member of The Florida Bar, NAFSA: Association of International Educators, the Robert M. Foster American Inn of Court, and is affiliated with the Jacksonville Leadership 2023 Class and the New American Speakers' Program (NASP) Cohort 9.
