Lavinia Haslam is a creative researcher and multidisciplinary artist whose academic work investigates sensory experience, material practice, and decolonial methodologies within contemporary art and wellbeing research. Based at the University of Central Lancashire, her research explores how creative practice functions as a mode of inquiry—bridging theory, lived experience, and public engagement. Her current projects use water as both subject and method, examining its symbolic and emotional dimensions in relation to memory, migration, and the legacies of slavery and colonialism. Drawing on photography, installation, VR, and sound, Lavinia develops immersive, research-led works that translate complex social histories into participatory and accessible forms of knowledge. Her broader academic interests include arts-led wellbeing research, co-production, and creative dissemination, with a focus on how practice-based research can advance inclusion, mental health awareness, and cultural understanding across communities and institutions.
