Marie conducts her PhD research on the EU Common European Asylum System at FU Berlin and is affiliate policy fellow at the Think Tank Jacques Delors Centre of the Hertie School of Governance. Her fields of expertise include the genealogy of EU asylum law and politics, EU externalisation and bordering practices, and current debates on CEAS reform.
