Isabella Trombetta is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the NYU Center for European and Mediterranean Studies (CEMS). Previously postdoctoral associate at the BU Center on Forced Displacement (2023). Dr. Trombetta's book project focuses on migration in the Central Mediterranean and how international maritime law and humanitarian law affect border shaping in the high seas. She also worked on projects relating the EU response to border pressures, the categories of migration, and on the criminalization of NGOs. Between 2017 and 2020 she worked with the SAR NGO SOS MEDITERRANEE, first as communications officer on board the ship Aquarius, and then as communications manager. In 2018 she joined the IMISCOE PhD network in the Networking group, served as IMISCOE PhD representative for two terms.
