Dr Aleksandra Ancite-Jepifánova is an interdisciplinary legal scholar specialising in conflict, displacement, and human rights, with a particular focus on migration and asylum. She holds a PhD in Law from Queen Mary University of London and is currently a Research Affiliate with the Refugee Law Initiative, University of London, and the Democracy Institute at Central European University.
Her work combines doctrinal legal research and fieldwork, drawing on nearly 20 years of experience across diverse legal and regional contexts, including the UK, Germany, Eastern Europe, and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. She has taught and held research roles at institutions including the London School of Economics (LSE), Forum Transregionale Studien (Berlin), Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, King's College London, and the CEU Democracy Institute (Rule of Law Clinic).
Her research focuses on genocide, mass displacement, and refugee and IDP protection frameworks, with particular attention to the Yezidi genocide in the aftermath of ISIS attacks; the concept of migrant instrumentalisation at the EU’s eastern borders; pushbacks and access to asylum; and family reunification in UK and EU law. She is the author of The Concept of Marriages of Convenience in EU Free Movement Law: EU and UK Perspectives (Brill, 2024).
