Fareha Iqtidar
Khan
Fareha Iqtidar Khan is a geopolitical researcher and policy specialist based in Islamabad, Pakistan, currently serving as Lead Editor at the Centre for Strategic and Contemporary Research (CSCR), an independent think tank where she also coordinates the Islamabad Policy Group under its aegis. With over a decade of postgraduate experience, her work navigates the intersections of migration, regional security, institutional governance, and policy reform across the Global South.
She is an active member of Women in International Security (WIIS), the Expert Roster for Project Loop at the Open Nuclear Network (ONN), and a Founding Member of the Global Majority Experts network at Egab. As a former Don Lavoie Fellow at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, her analytical approach integrates rigorous institutional frameworks with regional security and policy analysis. In her leadership role at CSCR, she directs transdisciplinary research pipelines spanning over 150 annual outputs including works on regional stability, South Asian border and human mobility dynamics.
Her academic background includes an MPhil in International Relations with a thesis distinction (A+ Grade) and foundational research experience as a Research and Editorial Associate at the National Defence University (NDU), Islamabad. She holds an MSc in International Relations from the National University of Modern Languages and Sciences. Complementing her research career, she has extensive academic teaching experience as a visiting lecturer and course coordinator at public sector universities—including International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), the National University of Modern Languages (NUML), and Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU)—where she redesigned social science curricula to emphasise qualitative research methodologies and policy analysis.
