The sponsorship system of the Arab Gulf countries comprises rules and regulations that tie the residence of a migrant worker to his/her sponsor in the country. This paper offers an in-depth examination of the legal framework of the sponsorship system of the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) ﾖ Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and the United Arab Emirates.
