Erick is a first-generation scholar and social work researcher from Brazil, currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Alabama School of Social Work. He holds a B.A. in International Relations (University of Vale do Itajaí, Brazil) and a Master of Social Work (University of Stavanger, Norway), and has secured significant funding from institutions including the Brazilian Ministry of Education, the European Commission, and the Council on Social Work Education (U.S.).
His doctoral research examines the biopsychosocial implications of labor migration, with a focus on how public policies and grassroots initiatives shape the health and well-being of Latinx immigrant workers in the U.S. Erick’s work has been published in journals such as International Social Work, Frontiers in Public Health, and the Journal of Human Rights and Social Work, among many others.
Erick is also a member of the Rest & Resilience research group at the University of Alabama and a Graduate Student Affiliate with the Forced Migration Initiative at Washington University in St. Louis.
