I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology and Legal Studies. My research interests are in the areas of violence against women, critical migration and border studies, and Post-Colonial Feminist and Critical Race Theory. My dissertation examining the intersection of domestic violence and precarious immigration status in Ontario has been funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). I am also a former Fulbright Scholar, through which I completed my Master’s degree in Communications and Development Studies at Ohio University. Beyond my academic work, I have been actively involved in student advocacy, serving as the President & CEO of the Graduate Student Association (GSA), Student Representative on the University of Waterloo Board of Governors, and a member of the University of Waterloo Senate.
