Associate professor in social work, holding a PhD in social sciences (specialisation in social work), a master's degree (hovedfag) in social anthropology and additional studies in journalism and psychosocial support. I have conducted qualitative research with young unaccompanied refugees, focusing on resilience, recognition, participation, family reunification, and storytelling and silence. Currently, I am involved in research projects on 1) grief support for refugees and 2) social workers' experiences of living and working in Gaza. Moreover, I am a researcher, lecturer, seminar leader, course coordinator and supervisor at bachelor and master's level. My academic and professional journey has been deeply rooted in issues such as armed conflict, human rights violations, forced migration and in people’s lived experiences of these phenomena. Previously, I have worked as a social worker with unaccompanied minor asylum seekers and refugees in Norway; with the protection of threatened human rights defenders in Colombia; as the manager of an NGO; and as a freelance journalist and writer.
