Leonie is a PhD Candidate at the Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research (AISSR), UvA. Her doctoral research focuses on the making of Senegalese migrant smuggling governance in the context of externalized EU-ropean migration control. Prior to starting her PhD Leonie has worked as a project researcher on migration governance in West Africa at the University of Freiburg and the Free University of Brussels/UNU-Cris.
