Alison Diec is a PhD candidate in Political and Social Sciences (Cedem and PragmApolis - IRSS, ULiège). During her Master's degree in Multilingual Communication with a focus on Chinese language and culture (ULiège), she wrote a thesis titled "The mobilisation against anti-Asian racism in the United States: content and form of mobilisation on Instagram". In January 2024, she began her thesis under the supervision of Éric Florence and Marco Martiniello. As part of her doctoral research, she examines the identity dynamics of the second-generation Chinese youth in Belgium. Her research interests also include the (post-)migration experiences of Chinese populations in Belgium, transnational, and possibly digital, practices within these communities, and anti-racist mobilisations.
