Karim Ashour is currently a doctoral researcher in the DFG research group Cross-Border Labour Markets: Transnational Market Makers, Infrastructures, Institutions at the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE), focusing on the Skills Mobility Partnerships and their role in cross-border labour migration governance between the EU and North Africa. He previously worked for five years as a governance, policy and capacity development advisor at GIZ Egypt on different migration programs, including THAMM, PME, and PMD. Karim also has over seven years of teaching experience in Political Science and Public Policy at Future University in Egypt. He holds an MA in Global Affairs from the American University in Cairo and Sciences Po, Paris, and a BA in Political Science. He speaks Arabic and English fluently and has working knowledge of Italian, French, and German.
