Maria Gabriella Campolo is an Associate Professor of Social Statistics at the University of Messina (Department of Economics). She serves as the Principal Investigator (PI) of the PRIN2022_PNRR project "Ethnic and Gender Labor Experimental Studies (EAGLES) over Discrimination" and is the Responsible Unit (RU) Coordinator of the PRIN2022 project "Depopulation Risk: Experiences, Mobility and Subjective Well-Being (DREAMS)." Her research focuses on applying advanced statistical models to study socio-economic and demographic phenomena. She explores topics such as fertility and labor market participation, with an emphasis on gender disparities and family policies, as well as time-use analysis and its effects on well-being. Her work also examines life satisfaction, particularly in relation to students' mental health post-COVID-19, and labor market discrimination through field experiments. She specializes in causal inference in social sciences, addressing labor market dynamics and household work division, and is an expert in econometric methods for handling endogeneity. Additionally, she studies depopulation and migration, analyzing mobility patterns and well-being in shrinking populations. She is actively involved in PhD programs, serving as a faculty member of the PhD in Economics, Management, and Statistics at the University of Messina and the National PhD Program in Life Course Research, led by the University of Florence. Her research has been published in top-tier, peer-reviewed journals, including The Stata Journal, Quality and Quantity, Social Indicators Research, The Journal of Economic Inequality, Genus, Child Indicators Research, and Statistical Methods & Applications. She regularly presents at international conferences, such as the Population Association of America (PAA), the European Population Conference (EPC), and the International Society for Quality of Life Studies (ISQOLS).
