EXPERIENCE NATURAL FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT IN VR WITH THE OMNIDECK – THE ULTIMATE VR EXPERIENCE

Description
MSE Omnifinity AB is a company specialized in the development of hardware for Virtual Reality. The company developed a 360-degree VR locomotion device which allows users to physically move within a simulated world. The Omnideck can be used in various industries to improve analysis, enhance design processes, for exploration or training. In 2018, the company completed a beta-test with 40 external users (TRL=6). The key objective of this project is to assess the technical feasibility and the commercial potential of the Omnideck. The company intends commercialize the product in three targeted market segments, namely, innovation & research, entertainment and defense & security. In all three segments, the company collaborates with partners: R&D labs, architectural visualization studios, construction companies as well as safety and defense firms. In 2013, Omnifinity obtained an R&D grant obtained from Vinnova, Sweden’s innovation agency.

Opening the Third Generation: The Search for Long-Lived Fundamental Particles

Description
The OPEN3GEN project will access an entirely new phase space to discover long-lived particles at the Large Hadron Collider. Current data-recording algorithms (“triggers”) do not record directly this type of event at the LHC. My team and I will maximise the experimental sensitivity by developing trigger strategies and reconstruction methods to yield the first datasets that will be sensitive to long-lived particles decaying to third generation particles. This will result, for the first time, in limits on, or observations of, long-lived particles in new lifetime regimes and signatures. In the case of a discovery, a program is proposed to measure the underlying dynamics of the New Physics by accessing information on the mass scale, lifetimes and spin information of the new particles. This proposal evidences my qualities as a creative PI applying specialised abilities to seek out orthogonal, novel activities to push back the boundaries of science.

Tried and Trusted? The role of NGOs in the Assisted Voluntary Returns of Asylum Seekers and Irregular Migrants

Description
This research examined, among other things, the differing roles of those NGOs that administer AVRs and those that do not; how and why NGOs (and the Welfare Officers in Detention Centres they work with) advise on particular return modes; and also the place of ‘safe country’ determinations, the meaning of ‘sustainability’ in AVR advice to returnees, and the advantages and disadvantages of ‘directive’ and ‘non-directive’ approaches in NGO consultations with AVR applicants.

Einwanderungspolitik im Vergleich

Principal investigator Marc Helbling (Principal Investigator)
