Public opinion on migrants: the effect of information and disinformation about EU policies

Topics list
Integration is a two-way process that requires a welcoming society. Since 2015/6, EU citizens have witnessed many EU policy developments on asylum and migration as well as many intense national political debates. At the same time, the world has witnessed an increase in fake news, particularly on migration, through online and social media which the EU has begun to tackle. How has information on EU policies changed public opinion in different Member States and parts of the population? To what extent has disinformation about migrants and EU policies shifted public opinion and debates? Looking from 2015/6 up through the 2019 European elections, ReSOMA can build on innovative research on public opinion and fake news, collected by experts, researchers & civil society. Note that the European Migration Network is interested to support dissemination on this topic.
