Dr. Naila Sahar is an Assistant Professor of English at American University in Dubai. She completed her PhD in English at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York, as a Fulbright scholar. Before joining AUD’s English division as Assistant Professor, she was an American Association of University Women’s International Postdoctoral Fellow and adjunct instructor in the Department of Global Gender and Sexuality Studies at the University at Buffalo, and Assistant Professor at Forman Christian College (A Chartered University), Pakistan. She has taught graduate and undergraduate courses in universities in Pakistan and the USA, and has supervised several MPhil and PhD theses. Her research interests include Feminist studies, Gender studies, Gendered religious nationalism, South Asian studies, and postcolonial studies. The topic of her PhD dissertation is Reimagining Muslim women: Gendered Religious Life and Resistance in the age of Islamophobia. Her work has been published in the Journal of International Women's Studies, Journal of Transnational Women's & Gender Studies, South Asian Review, Journal of Commonwealth and Postcolonial Studies, and in edited volumes published by Routledge/Taylor & Francis.
