Ildikó Zakariás is a research fellow at the Institute for Minority Studies, Centre for Social Sciences, Budapest. Her main research areas are civil society and humanitarianism, migration, ethnicity and nationalism, and a related focus on affective governance. Her dissertation has been published as a monograph (in Hungarian) titled Philanthropic Nation – Solidarity and Power in support of Ethnic Hungarian Minorities (Budapest, Kalligram, 2018). Her recently published articles appeared in the journals Sociology, International Journal of Immigrant and Refugee Studies, Voluntas: International Journal of Voluntary and Nonprofit Organizations and Intersections – East European Journal of Society and Politics. Her ongoing research focuses on refugee and migrant services in Vienna, and on the position and perspectives of migrant workers in these organisations.
