Borch was educated sociologist at the University of Oslo and took her Ph.D. degree at the University of Helsinki on gambling and gambling problems in households. Today, Borch holds a position as Research Professor and Head of Research for the research group Consumption Policy and Economy at Consumption Research Norway (SIFO).
